Every fall, my family and friends help me to collect Monarch caterpillars for a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Finding enough caterpillars and then enough milkweed to feed them is a long process.

Wallingford’s Orchard in Auburn lets us set-up a stand and collect donations in exchange for a glass terrarium filled with milkweed and a monarch caterpillar(s) to watch, change into a butterfly and let go.

Having refrigeration would prevent the milkweed from wilting, increasing the odds for the development of the butterfly, enjoyment of watching the metamorphosis and the education many children and families enjoy.

Anyone able to help us with this event, please contact me. Thank you! — Diane Adams Clukey, dianeadamsclukey@gmail.com
