LEWISTON — HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has announced its Summer Core Classes. Classes with the core membership fee include:
Cardio mix: Everything from step to circuits, 7:45-8:15 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
Core strength: Abdominal and lower back workout to help increase core strength and stability, 8-8:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Time to stretch: A full body stretch for relaxation, peace of mind and an increase in flexibility, 8:15-8:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
TNT (Tone-N-Tighten): Weighted workout focuses on total body strengthening, 7-7:45 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and 12:10-12:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
X-Train interval: New, 7:15-8:15 a.m. Fridays. Alternate between bouts of high and low intensity exercises for a calorie blasting class. Low impact options will be provided for all exercises.
Yogalates on the ball: A fusion of yoga and Pilates on an exercise ball to improve coordination and increase flexibility and strength, 7:15-8 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays.
Open track: Indoor track at your own pace. Includes an optional group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. 6:05-6:55 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Lap swim: Swim at your own pace in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard, 6:05-7:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
Aquatic fitness: Easy on your joints using the water as resistance, 6:30-7:15 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. While swimming skills are not needed, a comfort level in both deep and shallow water is important.
Core classes are held in the Bates College Merrill Gymnasium and at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Classes run from May 29-Aug. 31. The cost of a core membership, which includes unlimited access to all of the above classes, is $112.
