LIVERMORE FALLS — RSU 73 residents voted 29-21 Tuesday to approve a $18.8 million school budget. It is $203,343 less than the school board recommended.
The budget will go before voters Tuesday, June 14, for a validation vote. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jay Community Building, Livermore Fire Station and Livermore Falls Town Office.
The proposed $18.8 million spending package reflects an increase of $410,527 over this year’s $18.4 million budget.
The major reduction was $150,000 from debt service that would have been a first interest payment on a bond for a proposed renovation/addition at the Jay high school. The initial $5.3 million addition/renovation project was overwhelmingly rejected by voters in May. The school board left the money in, in case another project was proposed.
