HARRISON — This year marks the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birthday and Lake Region Community Theatre will pay tribute to him with the lively musical “Oliver!” at Deertrees Theatre and Cultural Center.
The play, based on Dickens’ novel “Oliver Twist,” follows the exploits of a young workhouse boy who dares to ask for more food. Musical numbers include “Consider Yourself,” “As Long as He Needs Me” and “Where is Love?”
The cast of 62 is directed by Mary Bastoni, who besides teaching private voice lessons in Fryeburg directs shows for Arts in Motion in North Conway, N.H.
Performances span two weekends, from Friday, June 22, to Sunday, July 1. Curtain for Friday and Saturday is 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults/$12 for children 12 and younger. They are available at Books N Things in Norway.
