DIXFIELD — Courtney Carlson will compete in the 76th anniversary Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant to be held at the Crooker Theater at Brunswick High School on Saturday, June 16. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Miss River Valley, Courtney Carlson, 19 of Dixfield, is a graduate of Mountain Valley High School and just completed her freshman year at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. She will present a lyrical dance as her talent, and her platform is Relay for Life. She participates in the Relay for Life, an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society, each May to honor a friend’s father and her best friend who have died from cancer.
The Miss Maine Scholarship Program, the official state preliminary to Miss America, is a not-for-profit organization which maintains a tradition of empowering young women to achieve professional and personal goals. Miss Maine receives thousands of dollars in college scholarships, as well as a paid trip to compete for Miss America. Each contestant, regardless of placement, earns valuable college assistance.
