AUBURN, Maine — A mid-morning crash Tuesday at the intersection of Court and Spring streets sent seven people to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said.
A Dodge Neon sedan and a Dodge Durango SUV collided, rolling the Durango onto its roof.
The 2002 Dodge Neon was driven by Stephanie M. Haskell, 35, of Augusta ran a red light, police said. She and two passengers, including a 2-year-old girl were taken to a hospital. The 2001 Dodge Durango was driven by April L. Collins, 31, of Auburn. She and her three passengers also went to the hospital.
Michael Cole of Lewiston said he was following traffic south through a green light on Spring Street to turn left onto Court Street when he saw the sedan westbound on Court Street collide with the SUV.
“I see this little blue car come flyin’ out of nowhere. So I hit my brakes and I saw the Dodge Durango go flyin’ across and they collided,” Cole said. “It just missed me.”
Police detoured traffic on Turner Street while a tow truck cleared the wreck. The intersection was reopened at about 11 a.m.
