FARMINGTON — Republican candidate Scott Nichols of New Sharon will represent the GOP in the race for Franklin County sheriff in November. Nichols received 1,561 votes over Thomas White of Jay, who had 753.

Nichols will face Sheriff Dennis Pike, unenrolled, of Farmington in the November election.

Nichols, the Carrabassett Valley police chief, took the majority of the towns in the county, including his hometown. White, a detective in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, also took his hometown.

The only area with a tie vote was Rangeley Plantation at 10-10.
