LEWISTON — Owen R. “Mac” McFadden, 85, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, June 10, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.

He was born in Auburn, Sept. 13, 1926, son of the late Osmond and Josephine Record McFadden. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1944. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mac was married to Norma Melcher, who predeceased him in 1989. He co-owned a Sunoco service station on Main Street in Lewiston for 19 years and later worked for Union Water Power Co., until his retirement in 1988.

He loved riding his motorcycle and did some riding until most recently and was a member of the Mid Maine Motorcycle Association. Mac also enjoyed meeting his buddies for breakfast at local restaurants and later in the day for lunch at Taber’s.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sargent and husband, John “Lindy;” a son, Blaine McFadden and wife, Betsy, all of Greene; four grandchildren, Amber Sargent and partner, Kevin Towle, Matthew Sargent, Corey McFadden and wife, Brandy and Derek McFadden and wife, Lisa; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brooklynn Spring, Dustin, Calob and Mason Towle and Aiden and Tucker McFadden.

He was predeceased by his wife; a sister, Arlene Cottle; and a half brother, Arnold Luce.
