WAYNE — Support local farmers and agriculture at the Wayne Farmers’ Market, held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market has opened for the season. Many of last year’s vendors have returned, with vegetables, herbs, meat, perennials, baked goods, wool, goat’s milk soap, blueberries, flowers and eggs.

The annual Fourth of July celebration will take place Saturday, June 30. The CAMP’R Band, made up of Chris Cushman and friends, will perform and children’s activities will be offered for free. There will be music, face painting and gardening in a pot with herbs and flowers.

This summer, in addition to providing access to locally grown food, organizers plan to bring locally-grown music to the market. There will be an open mike time most weeks where musicians of all kinds and ages from Wayne and nearby towns are invited to perform. A small battery-operated amplifier and microphone will be available. Musicians wanting to play should contact Stan at standavis@yahoo.com
