FARMINGTON — The Sweatt-Winter Child Care and Education Center currently has openings in its summer and full-year school-age program serving children in kindergarten through second grade.
Families have several opportunities to enroll their children in the nationally-accredited program. Sweatt-Winter offers summer programming by the week or for the whole summer and full-year programming for before and after school and for early release days and school vacations.
The program has provided full-time care and education to children in Franklin County and the surrounding areas for 30 years. This program provides a relaxed atmosphere with hands-on learning in the areas of creative arts, science and nature, literacy, math and more. The curriculum is based on the interests of the children, and is carried out through the use of age appropriate activities. Social and emotional growth is supported through the use of conflict resolution skills.
The program is located in University of Maine at Farmington’s Ricker Addition. Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Anyone interested in summer and/or fall child care should contact Edna Montague, director of UMF’s children’s programs, or Julie Farmer, Sweatt-Winter teacher, at 778-7480.
