Boys State, run by the American Legion, will be held the week of June 17-22 at Thomas College in Waterville. Quinlan Leary and Zachary Tannenbaum will attend.
Quin, the son of Justin and Pam Leary, has participated in basketball throughout his three years at the high school. In his sophomore year he was a member of the Class A Eastern runner-up team. He now serves as the captain of the team. He is also a member of the football team, the Latin Club and the National Honor Society.
Zach is the son of Keith and Laurie Tannenbaum. He has played soccer for all three years and captained the cross-country ski team for three years. He spoke at this year’s “Take A Veteran to School” program on May 31. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
Girls State, run by the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, will be held at Husson University during the same week. Rebeckah Gray and Amanda Williams will attend.
Rebeckah, the daughter of Jen Poland and Michael Gray, has cheered all three years at ELHS and is the current captain of the team.
Amanda, the daughter of Carole Gray, is a member of both the field hockey and ice hockey teams. She is goalie for the field hockey team, and serves as its captain. Amanda is a member of the ELHS Show Choir as well as the National Honor Society. This past May she was a member of the Chamber Choir which sang during the “Take a Veteran to School” Day.
