Bible School is ‘Bugzone’

JAY — Jay Baptist Church will hold Daily Vacation Bible School, “Bugzone – Transformed By Our Big God,” from 9 to 11:45 a.m. June 18-22, for ages 3-17. A week of exciting Bible stories, crafts, games, a nature safari, Bugzi the puppet, refreshments and a cookout are planned.

Grief training for volunteers

WILTON — The Program for Grieving Children & Teens has announced its next 30-hour volunteer training for individuals interested in being part of the team for upcoming program sessions. Training begins Saturday, June 23. The training includes two Saturday sessions: June 23 and July 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and four evening sessions: June 26, June 28, July 10 and July 12 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will be held at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s office, 284 Main St., Suite 290.

The training is offered free of charge and is designed to prepare interested participants in the art of volunteer work with grieving children and their families. The course is comprehensive in scope, exploring a wide range of topics including the understanding of grief and its stages, how individuals of varying ages process grief, the use of age appropriate activities within groups, and the safe expression of anger and other emotions.

Robotics summer camp

JAY — The Spruce Mountain Area Robotics Team will host a robotics summer camp at Spruce Mountain Middle School from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, June 25, to Thursday, June 28.

Middle School students will develop skills in designing, building and programming robots through a variety of projects. Students will work in teams of four and each team will have high school SMART Team members as mentors. The program will be overseen by adult mentors, including SMMS LEGO League adviser Rob Taylor and SMHS technology teacher Dan Lemieux.

Students entering grades six through eight next fall are eligible to participate. Space is limited and registration will close when the camp fills. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Registration fee is $40. Proceeds from the camp will benefit the FIRST Robotics Team at Spruce Mountain High School. Registrations should be returned to Rob Taylor at Spruce Mountain Middle School, 23 Community Drive, Jay ME 04239.
