LIVERMORE — Glenda M. Richards, 77, of Livermore, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 12, at her beloved home in Livermore.

She was born May 31, 1935, in Farmington, daughter of Howard F. and Ruth Mae (Gilman) Ledger.

She attended local schools, graduating from Wilton Academy.

On May 30, 1955, she married Gilbert N. “Gibby” Richards at St. Mary’s Church in Wilton. They made their home in Livermore Falls until purchasing the house in Livermore in 1977. She and Gibby restored

the house and settled there in 1981. She was finally close enough to Brettuns Pond, which was always a special place to her.

She was a life member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and took a special interest in the Dirigo Girls State Program.

For many years, Norlands was her second home. She derived great pleasure in character as Emeline Hilton. The role of playing a woman of the 19th century suited her well.

Glenda was an animal lover. She shared many amusing stories of her current and past collections with family and friends.

Gatherings at her home were rarely quiet. She will be remembered for her quick wit, funny poems, stories and enjoying a good time.

Glenda is survived by her children, Gilbert N. “Gibby” Richards Jr. and his wife, Wendy and their children, Kenny Prehn and his fiance, Fiona Afoa and Katelyn Richards of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Gaye Ouellette and her husband, Mark, of Jay and their children, Jason Ouellette and his wife, Kristy and their son, Eben of Litchfield, Jana Strollo and her daughters, Chloe and Gracie of Tinton Falls, N.J., Joel Ouellette and his girlfriend, Kim Anderson of Holiday, Fla., and Jared Ouellette of Jay, and Gina Richards and her daughter, Corena of Winthrop; a sister, Myrna Orff and her husband, Malcolm, of East Wilton and their daughters, Julie and Joy; brother-in-law, Robert Richards and his wife, Reinette, of Livermore and their children, Joy, Jeff, Jack and Peter; and estranged son, Gregg Richards.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gibby, Dec. 7, 2002; and a grandson-in-law, Anthony Strollo, Feb. 7.
