WINDHAM — Catcher Jack Herzig’s RBI double in the eighth inning knocked in the winning run as Windham shook off Smith-Tobey with a 1-0 victory in an American Legion opener Thursday.

Calvin Field came home with the winning run after getting on first with his single. Field moved to second base and Mitchell Holdge’s successful bunt.

That’s when Herzig worked his magic with an RBI double that brought with winning run home.

Winning pitcher Cody Dube got the win on the mound, striking out 10 batters.

He didn’t give up a walk.

Losing pitcher Torrey Charnock had two singles.

Herzig and Hodge each had two singles for Windham.
