AUBURN — Anthony H. “Tony” Pomerleau, 67, a lifelong resident of Jay, died early Friday, June 15, at Hospice House of Androscoggin after being transferred from his home on Thursday.

He was born May 5, 1945, in Jay, the son of Eugene Pomerleau Sr. and Alma (Ross) Pomerleau. Tony was a graduate of Jay High School.

On Aug. 25, 1979, in Jay, he married Christine Crockette of Dixfield. She passed away Nov. 23, 1988. He worked as a custodian for the town of Jay for 33 years, retiring in 2005.

In his earlier years, Tony enjoyed going on motorcycle rides, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Hillside Sports Club and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary, both of Jay.

He is survived by his sons, Paul Pomerleau and his wife, Ginger, of Jay and Eric Pomerleau and his wife, Brittany, also of Jay; grandchildren, Talyor Pomerleau and Brooke Schoonover; his brother, Norman Pomerleau and his wife, Honey, of Jay; three sisters, Vivian Burhoe of Jay, Pauline Jepson of Wilton and Geraldine Bibeau and her husband, Rene, of Jay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; brothers, Roland, Richard and Eugene Pomerleau Jr.; sisters, Jeannette Alice Garrow and Virginia Pomerleau; and his grandson, Dakota Poland.
