In interleague Babe Ruth baseball action, Auburn’s Advanced Dentistry won two games this past week, beating Elliot Ave. Little League’s Chick-A-Dee Restaurant 5-2 and Dube’s Flower Shop 4-0.
Advanced Dentistry got outstanding starting and relief pitching in both games. Against Chick-A-Dee, Drew Lashua and Kyle Karkos combined on a two-hitter while striking out 10.
Michael Hammond and Kyle Romero were repeat hitters for AD as well, each scoring a pair of runs. Brandon Case played solid defense at second base.
Evan Raymond and Michael Hammond combined on the shutout of Dube’s while allowing only three hits. They also amassed 10 strikeouts.
All the scoring for Advanced Dentistry came in the first inning. Hammond led off with a single and then three walks later Lashua singled home a run. Romero hit a sacrifice fly and another run was forced in a a bases loaded walk to Noah Yarnevich. Relief pitcher Austin Wing came in for Dube’s and threw shutout baseball over the next five innings.
Auburn Suburban
AUBURN — Hardy, Wolf and Downing defeated Austin Associates, 13-5, in Auburn Suburban Little League. Starting pitcher Ian Brushwein earned the win and Jacob Dubuc hit his first home run of the year. Also having a good day at the plate was Hunter Knowlton, who walloped a double to deep center. Other big hits came from Kam Coolong (triple), Mason Brushwein and Bobby Tremaine. Austin’s was led by Jake Arel and David Oken.
