LEWISTON — Jean D. Cloutier, 69, of 74 Lake Auburn Ave., Auburn, died Sunday, March 25, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, March 18, 1943, the son of Laurent and Francoise Bisson Cloutier. He attended Edward Little High School, where he served as goalie for the hockey team, and will long be remembered for his flair at goaltending. He later attended St. Joseph’s University in New Brunswick.

For many years, he was as an iron and steel worker all along the East Coast. In later years, he worked as a short-order cook at Bates College. During his life, he traveled extensively across the United States, always the adventurer.

He is survived by six brothers and sisters, Sister Francesca (Marguerite) Cloutier and Claire Poirier of Auburn, Marie Waterman and Lise Schulze of Melbourne, Fla., Philippe of Portland, and Adrien of Tyngsboro, Mass.; he also leaves a very dear friend, Joseph Bouchard.

He was predeceased by his parents, Laurent and Francoise; two brothers, Arthur Roger Cloutier and Raymond Cloutier; a foster brother, Raymond Richer; and a foster sister, Joan Belanger.

Jean was a loving son, a great brother, and a devoted uncle, nothing pleased him more than following the accomplishments of his many nieces and nephews. He brought many smiles to many faces with his unique character and he will be greatly missed.
