SOUTH PARIS — Raymond P. Hayward, 79, of South Paris, passed away, Thursday, June 14, at the Maine Veterans Home.

He was born in Amherst, Jan. 14, 1933, son of Austin H. and Velma (MacDonald) Hayward. Raymond served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

He worked for many years with the Maine Department of Transportation doing various jobs, retiring in 1996. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his close friends.

He is survived by his son, Randy and wife, Joline, of Amherst; daughters, Pamela Hayward of Ellsworth and Claire Babin of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois of North Carolina.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael Hayward.
