RUMFORD — Summer camps in the River Valley area will offer opportunities for summer fun for youth of all ages. Want to pet a cow? Learn to cook? Hang out outside? Make a music video? Learn to wood carve? The various camps offer something for everyone.

Western Foothills Kids Association will hold its annual Summer Adventure Camps at Rumford Elementary School for the weeks of July 9, 17, 24 and 30, running Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday Fun Days.

All area youths in grades one through five are invited. The cost of $15 per day includes activities, breakfast and lunch. Transportation will be available at pick up areas in the Mountain Valley region. There will be an open house to register children on Friday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to noon or 2 to 4 p.m. at RES. For middle school age youths there is a great opportunity at TW Kelley Dirigo Middle School. For the weeks of July 9, 17, 24 and 30 there will be activities from 8 a.m. to noon including woodcarving, painting with acrylics, cooking, leatherworking, gardening and more. The cost of $10 a day includes breakfast, lunch and transportation in the Dirigo region. Contact Kim Dailey or call Barb Radmore at 357-6987 for information or to register.

The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition has been awarded funding from the Agnes M. Lindsay Trust and local businesses to offer camperships for local children ages 5-13 to attend either Day Camp at Black Mountain or to the WFKA Adventure Camp. GRCC at Black Mountain Day Camp began the week of June 18 and will continue the week of June 25. Full, busy days of swim lessons, guest speakers, hikes, crafts and activities will be held at Black Mountain. For cost information and to register call GRCC at 369-9906.

GRCC will also have their popular free swim this summer from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
