AUBURN — Albert N. Binette, 88, formerly of Great Falls Plaza died Thursday, June 21, at Clover Manor, where he had resided since April.

He was born in Newmarket, N.H., Aug. 14, 1923, the son of William and Flora (Dionne) Binette and was a graduate of Biddeford High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served his country during World War II.

On June 21, 1959, he married Marcelle T. Trudeau. She died on April 17, 2008.

He worked as a plumber and pipefitter for the UA Local 783 Maine Chapter for 40 years until his retirement. In the 1960s, Albert and his wife owned and operated the Happy Rest Motel in Old Orchard Beach.

A member of St. Louis Church in Auburn, Albert enjoyed going fishing and hunting especially at Sonny Gagnon’s camp in Andover.

He is survived by his sons, Jude Binette and wife, Michelle, of Lewiston and Andre Binette and wife, Joline, of Auburn; his daughters, Frances Deshaies and husband, Roger, of Tucson, Ariz., and Helene Gagnon and husband, Ronald, of Raymond; his grandchildren, Lindsay, Justin, Felicia and Brandon Binette and Kyle, Alison and Drew Gagnon.

Beside his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Deshaies, July 2006.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Clover Manor, Androscoggin Home Hospice and to Dr. Michael Isaac for his compassion and kindness that was given to Albert.
