“Domestic violence is a very serious problem in society,” LePage said to a crowd of about 300. “I’m trying to encourage you to do two things: If you’ve never been exposed to it, please don’t. Secondly, if you have been, please help me stop it. Because too many people are getting hurt and too many people are dying.”
LePage answered a variety of questions, including about his onetime aspiration to be a Pepsi truck driver, how he studies “mental math” in his spare time and his disdain for dealing with the press.
One student asked if LePage wanted to run for president in the future.
“Me be president? The country couldn’t stand it,” LePage said with a laugh.
