Have you ever used the bathrooms at Lewiston Middle School? If you haven’t, you would not want to.

When you walk in and pick a stall, you have to search for one that fully locks. Then, when you find one, you have to put your jacket or sweatshirt in the crack of the door so people can’t see in. When you flush, you have to press a big metal button that is built into the wall. When you do that, water squirts out and goes all over your hands. It is a truly disgusting experience because you cannot use your foot. You have no choice but to use your hands.

The bathroom issue is becoming a serious problem at our school because people have just stopped flushing in general. It is appalling.

The school bathrooms are also not hygienic in any way, shape or form. I walked upstairs to the third floor bathroom and only three of the water spouts work. I watched people walk out of a stall and leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all.

I also talked with some boys in my class about their bathrooms and it seems to be that they are just as bad as ours. Out of the stalls they have, only two of the toilets actually have seats. I just couldn’t believe it.

I will never understand why the school cannot give the kids at LMS the privilege of an up-to-date, clean bathroom.

Don’t we deserve it?
