LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen recently agreed that the Town Office would close Friday, June 29, to allow the staff to close the financial books for 2011-12.
Town Manager Kristal Flagg also notified the board that Public Works Foreman Billy Nichols was successful in applying for a Maine Municipal Association Safety Enhancement Grant of $1,867 to buy a tailgate lift to get heavy items into a truck. The town’s share for the lift is $804, Flagg said.
Selectmen also accepted a $1,298.99 bid from Sean Byron to buy a house and property at 28 Sewall St. The town had foreclosed on the property for back taxes and sewer fees. It was the only bid received.
The board also voted to award the contract to apply chip seal on roads to Allstate Asphalt for $2.29 per square yard. Nichols said the company has two offices in Maine and he has seen the company’s work in Wilton.
A second bidder for the work was Rampart Bituminous LLC of Windham. The company’s bid was $2.32 per square yard.
