POLAND SPRING — Singer and guitarist Jim Gallant will perform songs from his latest CD, “Old with a New Coat,” plus other music from his earlier recordings, on Monday, July 2.

The performance is part of the Poland Spring Historical Society’s summer concert series.

In a review of the CD Cyrus Rhoads of the Muse’s Muse writes: “The lyrics are catchy, and the melodies are well crafted and hooky. Last but not least the songwriting and vocal presence from front Jim Gallant is world-class.”

Gallant performs throughout New England and, he says, wherever his guitar takes him. His song, “The Don,” was featured in the documentary “Gone: The Mystery of the Don Disaster,” aired by the Maine Public Broadcasting Network.  “Gone” explores the  mysterious disappearance of the pleasure craft DON in 1941, which claimed the lives of 28 people from Mexico and Rumford. No wreckage was ever found.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets, $7.50, will be sold at the door at All Souls Chapel.
