JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 from St. Rose of Lima recently held their June business meeting. The meeting was called to order by past regent Laurie Gagnepain. Chancellor Laurianne Castonguay led the recitation of the rosary.

The opening prayer was said by Castonguay, followed by the opening ode. Next came the Draping of the Charter for deceased Daughter Lorraine Cote.

Jackie Castonguay read the roll call of officers. Denise Soucy sat in for first guide Louise Buzzel, Gina Labbee sat in for monitor Irene Castonguay, Geri Ross sat in for inner guide Karen Daniels, Marilyn Bourgoin filled in for outer guide Amy Ouellette-Newman.

New member Ruth Gagon was led out of the hall by inner guard Gina Labbee. The group voted on accepting Ruth as a new Daughter, Gina was motioned to bring Ruth back into the hall and a short form conferral was held for Ruth.

The meeting continued with no minutes read from the last meeting as there still was not a recording secretary. Next was a letter read by Gagnepain that was received from Sisters of Life Mother Agnes Mary S.V thanking the group for the generous gift. Jackie Castonguay, recording secretary, read thank-you cards that were received from Brad Moran and Conrad and Pauline Breton.

Regent Denise Rodzen spoke about the convention that was held in Lincoln in May. Rodzen then spoke about the awards that group had received: first place for the newsletters that Annette Melanson writes and sends to all the Daughters; the Crown Award, which is the highest award the Daughters can receive, and a certificate of appreciation for the 2011-12 scrapbook.

At the convention a ticket was choosen for a basket that the Daughters must put together for a raffle to be held at next year’s convention. “Kiss the Cook” was the ticket that was drawn. Rodzen then spoke about the 40 club and how more people are needed for this. Scribe Kim Couture shared what she had put in the newspapers. Vice regent Dot Morgan reported that she had sent a sympathy card to Pauline Breton for the loss of her daughter and a get well card to Anita Couture.

Morgan said that a person is needed to help Yvonne Demillo with the planning of the church picnic. Morgan next spoke about a location for the summer outing on Wednesday, Aug. 8. It was decided that this will be brought up at the social on Wednesday, June 27.

There was an installation for new officer Jackie Castonguay for the position of the new recording secretary.
