AUBURN — Cynthia Rita Cox, 64, of East Bethel, lost a long, hard-fought battle with cancer on June 26, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

She was born in East Bethel, Aug, 29, 1947, to Leland and Edith Louise (Kimball) Coolidge. She attended Bethel schools and graduated from Gould Academy in 1965. She was married in 1965 to Richard Cox. They divorced in 1990.

She lived her entire life in East Bethel. She spent many years working for her brother at Bob’s Corner Store. She also worked as a CNA at the Rumford Community Home and at Penley’s Mills in West Paris. She sold House of Lloyd/Christmas Around the World for a few years and enjoyed a wonderful trip to Nashville, Tenn., with the company.

When her girls were young, she taught Sunday school at the Locke Mills Union Church. She also helped with the after school Good News Club in Dixfield for many years. Cindy was a true friend to everyone. To know her was to love her. She loved to knit and crochet and made many beautiful things. She liked to spend time with her family and friends. Before she became ill, you would see her every week at the Locke Mills American Legion, hoping to be able to yell ‘beano.’

Cindy is survived by her daughters, Laura and husband, Quentin Tyler, of East Bethel and Lisa and James Wheatley, of Missoula, Mont.; grandchildren, Kalinda Cox of East Bethel, Elizabeth Gall of California, Brittany Gall of Missoula, Mont., and Shara Wheatley of Missoula, Mont.; stepgrandchildren, Steven Tyler of Indiana, Jason Tyler of East Bethel and Jolene Gilley of Texas; stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler, Tanya and Cody Tyler, all of Indiana, Laylyah Tyler of East Bethel and Cory, Ryleigh and Hayleigh Gilley, all of Texas; siblings, Robert Coolidge of Greenwood and his fiancee, Donna Lowe, Serena Enman of Canton and Florida, Alberta (Pat) and husband, Harold Bessey, of Rumford and Phillip and wife, Linda Coolidge, of East Dixfield; a very special foster sister, Louise (Chick) Fitzmorris of East Bethel; a lifelong friend, Josephine (Jo) (Foster) Bradeen of Auburn; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.
