LEWISTON— Gabrielle C. Plante, 94, of 540 College St., Lewiston, died peacefully on Thursday, June 28, at Montello Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 10, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Berthe (Boulet) Gagne, and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was employed for many years as a weaver in the local textile industry and later worked at Pioneer Plastics until her retirement in 1980.
She was married to Gaudiose LeBlanc who died in 1989. She later married Rosaire J. Plante who died on Aug. 29, 1991.
She was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Parish.
Gabrielle enjoyed having fun. She loved playing cards and especially loved to go shopping. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox.
She is survived by two daughters, Romance Gagne and her husband, Maurice of Lewiston and Mona Chiarantona of Lewiston and her friend, Joseph Nalbach; a stepson, Claude Plante and his wife, Elfriede of Sherburne, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Claudette Hemphill of Washington state; three grandchildren, Lisa MacKenzie and her husband, Bill, Michael G. Chiarantona and Gina Dick and her husband, Mark; eight stepgrandchildren, Danny, Wendy, Lisa, Dawn, Stephanie, Rachel, Tina and John; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Heather, Kirk, Jessica, Jennifer, Paul and James; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Simonne Maheux; two brothers, Normand and Leo Bilodeau; a grandson, James Gagne; and by a son-in-law, Paul F. Chiarantona.
