NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group has announced winners for the June Juried Art Show.

The judge was Jean Brown, who studied at the Lyme Academy for three years concentrating on painting. Her current profession is marketing director for national architecture firms. When she has time, her artistic endeavors are photography, pastels and the occasional watercolor.

Best in Show: “Portrait of Irina,” Gail Rein.

Pastels: first place, “Ottertail County Marsh,” Gwen Nagel; second, “Misty Morn,” Barbara Traficonte; third, “Kynance,” Carol Rice.

Oils and acrylics: first, “Lemon and Egg,” Anthony Moora; second, “Guard House,” Cynthia Burmeister; third, “From Todd’s Point,” Suzanne Hardy.

Winners will receive a ribbon, a certificate and a cash prize. Winning art may be viewed at the final day of the Juried Show, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30.

Art classes will be held during July and August at the Matolcsy Art Gallery, 480 Main St.

Art Camp will run on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for four weeks starting July 5, 12, 19 and 26 and again Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30. The morning sessions are for elementary age campers and the afternoon session from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. is for campers of middle school age to adult. Parents are welcome to join in either section. The cost for camp will be $10 each or $30 for all four together.

Portrait classes will begin July 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a live model with a $15 fee per person. Assistance will be offered by Gail Rein if requested, or people can just paint on their own.

Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon will feature a drop in and go photography group led by Claire Cummings with critiques starting July 13. Price to be determined.
