LENOX BUILDING NOW COMPLETED — The Lenox is directly across from the Androscoggin County buildings and from the roof we looked down upon the finely kept grounds. Down at the right, across newly made Franklin Street, is the new post office. Everything is new. This is an old section of the city, but it is being revitalized and rebeautified. The Lewiston falls on the river are as old as the hills, but they took on a new beauty from this high viewpoint. “You see,” said Mr. A. W. Fowles, “the roof has been built so that no water drips from the eaves. It all gains to a center.”

A number of Auburn firemen and one policeman were commended for heroic action following an early morning Auburn apartment house fire today which routed the occupants of 15 apartments, forced one man to jump out of a three-story window to safety, and injured two firemen. Damage to the four-story building at the corner of Summer and Turner streets was estimated at between $10,000 and $15,000, and was believed started by a cigarette in third-floor apartment. Auburn Patrolman Ernest O. Bourassa arrived a few seconds before the fire trucks and immediately ran up the stairway next to the Sugar Bowl. He quickly broke down several doors and warned occupants of the fire. Two sleeping children were in one of the apartments. The officer wrapped the youngest, a boy, 1 1/2, in a blanket, and, carrying the boy, he escorted a girl, 2 1/2, past the closed door of a burning room and out of the building.
