AUBURN —   Raymond Maxim Blais, 85, a resident of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away, after a long illness of Alzheimer’s disease, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

He was born in Waterville, April 2, 1927, the son of  Joseph and Anne Marie Blais. He served as a signal man on the Naval ship U.S.S. Midway during World War II. He loved to play golf every day, especially with his family, and also played cards and liked to play music. In his early years, he worked in the shoe industry in Freeport, and then became self-employed as a carpenter til he retired. In 1995, he lost the love of his life and best friend Jeanette B. Blais, to whom he was married for 34 years.

Survivors include four sons, Robert and Rita Blais, Lewiston, Richard and Angie Blais, Turner, Mark and Charlene Blais, Auburn, Roland and Judy Blais, Texas; one daughter, Lorraine Blais, Waterford; one stepson, Normand and Susan Duchesneau, N.C.; five grandchildren, Beau Blais, Jennifer Arnold, Katrina Denis, Lilly Duchesneau, Camden Duchesneau; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jayden, and Peyton.

 Survivors also include one sister, Yvette Ellis, Ojai, Calif., and one brother, George Blais, Richmond, N.H.

He was predeceased by a brother, Yvon Blais, and a sister, Rita Betts.

The family would like to thank The Lamp and Hospice Center for the services provided.
