Jackie Whiton of New Hampshire, former employee of a convenience store chain, should have received a promotion for her stand against taxpayer money being used to purchase cigarettes when she refused to sell cigarettes to a young man who wanted to pay with an EBT card. Instead, she is now unemployed.
Cash EBT cards are wasteful. Only one card is needed and should be modified for the purchase of food and certain other items.
The customer’s foster mother complained? How old was this customer with no ID to present except a taxpayer money card? Why is the foster mother allowing the child to purchase cigarettes?
Charles Wilkins, general manager of the store chain there, missed the whole point. I will rethink future visits to those stores. They don’t need my purchase dollars as long as they are selling welfare cigarettes and alcohol.
