PARIS — Kenneth C. Swan, 85, of Paris Hill died Monday, July 2, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Woodstock, Dec. 17, 1926, the son of Porter and Verna (Whitman) Swan.
He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1945. After high school, Ken faithfully served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. After the military, he worked for Goodwin’s Dairy as a short order cook.
On Oct. 1, 1950, he married Nellie Lapham. He drove truck for Ellis Kahkonen for a while before going to work for Bolsters installing carpet. In 1978, he started his own business known as Ken & Fred’s.
Then in 1994, the business was changed to Ken & Thoms. Ken retired in 1999 selling the business to Thom.
Ken loved to take trips to Boothbay and Bar Harbor. He loved to fish at Newsoudehunc, Little Kennebago and Grand Lake Stream.
Ken has been a member of the First Congregational Church of South Paris since 1966, where he was a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Barbershoppers, the Locke Mills Union Church Christmas Cantata and an honorary member of the McGregor family.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; a daughter, Linda (Swan) Mitchell and husband, Vernon; a son, Alan Swan; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Andrea) Hoyt and Mrs. Arlene McKillop; a brother, Keith Swan; special aunt, Clara Whitman; granddaughter, Katie Swan; stepgrandchildren, Dale Mitchell, Vance Mitchell and Bart Mitchell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
