FARMINGTON — Jackie Marie McGarvey (nee Murphy) of Rangeley died in Farmington on June 28, was all about family. She bore the responsibility of, not only her own seven children (five boys and two girls), but also of taking on the mother-role of four younger siblings after the accidental death of her own mother at a young age. She loved her entire extended family which reached from Maine to California, from North Carolina to the Persian Gulf.

She was born in her hometown of Rangeley to Rexford Keith Murphy and Jessima Auralie Ellis. Jackie spent her entire adult life raising children while doing housekeeping at the Rangeley Manor in the 1950s and 1960s. She came by her Irish temperament naturally from her father’s side. Her mother was a branch of the large Ellis clan who at one time had three large dairy farms in the region south of the village. Jackie loved sitting on her front lawn watching cars come and go through town.

Jackie is survived by siblings, Eugene, Jane, Carl, Penny, Marla and Wanda; her children, from oldest to youngest, are Darrel, Brent, Arlow, Auralie, Tami, Kevin and Erin; grandchildren of Nana Jackie are Justin, Jennifer, Anne Sophie, Deanna, Nicky, Adam, Jessica, Sean, Sabrina, Casey, Breana and twins, Kevinson and Kendrick; great-grandchildren to date include Addisyn, Makayla, Savannah, Madison, Maya, Meika, Adrian, Tyler, Riley and twins, Nicholas and Olivia.

Waiting for her in Heaven are husband, James “Russ”; sisters, Josephine and Geraldine; and grandson, Jason.
