BETHEL — The 33rd annual Faye Taylor Art Show was held at the Bethel Historical Society’s Dr. Moses Mason House on May 26.

The yearly event features the work of students in grades one through six in SAD 44. The topic of the 2012 show was “The Woods and Lakes around Us,” one of the themes that will be explored in the society’s upcoming exhibition on the history of outdoor recreation in western Maine.

Students submitted art works in a variety of mediums — including crayon, oils, tempera, watercolors and chalk — and three judges reviewed all of the art to determine who would be awarded cash prizes, ribbons and certificates of commendation in each of three divisions.

The winners of the show were as follows: Division 1, grades one and two, first, Jordan Berry, grade two, Crescent Park; second, Olivia Seames, grade one, Woodstock Elementary; third, Cheyenne Palmer, grade two, Woodstock Elementary. Division 2, grades three and four, first, Angela Cintron, grade four, Andover Elementary; second, Max Kruse, grade three, Woodstock Elementary; third, Ashley Childs, grade four, Crescent Park. Division 3, grades five and six, Brynne Speakman, grade five, Crescent Park; second, Logan Whitney, grade five, Crescent Park; and third, Lilo Bean, grade five, Crescent Park.

The Bethel Historical Society extends its appreciation to the teachers; to Cayte Vogt, Arlene Lowell and Kathy Bennett, who volunteered to hang the art; and to the judges, Dennis Dreher, Gemma Morrill-Dreher and Donald G. Bennett.
