FARMINGTON — The Maine Jazz Camp is returning to Farmington for two weeks starting Sunday, July 8. Under the direction of jazz vocalist Christine Correa, the Maine Jazz camp offers students the opportunity to work with some of the greatest jazz educators and most vital players working in jazz today.

Maine Jazz Camp also offers the public the opportunity to hear these great players as they take turns leading performances, which are free. Donations are accepted for the Jazz Camp scholarships for students.

The faculty performances are held Sundays through Thursdays at 8 p.m. During the week of July 8-12 all concerts will take place in the Emery Arts Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

During the week of July 15-19 concerts will also be held in C131 Roberts Learning Center at UMF.

Student performances are held Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. The first week, starting on July 8, will feature John O’Gallagher on sax, Ben Waltzer on piano, Matt Pavolka on bass, Mark Ferber on drums, Kirk Knuffke on trumpet and Kenny Wessel on guitar.

The second week, starting on Sunday, July 15, features Pete McCann on guitar, Jeremy Udden on sax, Frank Carlberg on piano, Pascal Niggenkemper on bass, Michale Sarin on drums and Christine Correa, vocals.
