RUMFORD — River Valley Healthy Communities invites everybody to join their 4th Summer into Fall 100 Miles in 100 Days challenge.

100 Miles in 100 Days is aimed at motivating people to become and stay active, as well as promoting physical and mental health through walking or other forms of physical activity. It is a program that can be done on one’s own or one that can be incorporated into an existing worksite wellness program. This self-paced program kicked off July 1 and runs through Oct. 8.

All that has to be done is to keep track of the days and number of miles walked. The goal is to have all walks and other activities during the 100 day period add up to at least 100 miles. Participants will receive a sheet to record their mileage in order to keep track of their own progress. At the end of the 100 days, participants will then return their record sheets.

Weekly motivational tips will be distributed to all throughout the 100 days. Each participant returning their log sheet with a minimum of 100 miles will be entered into a drawing for a certificate for a new pair of walking shoes from Carlisle’s of Rumford.
