FARMINGTON — Walter R. Wills, 81, a former resident of Wilton, died early Thursday, July 5, at Pinewood Terrace following a lingering illness. He was born June 18, 1931, in Lewiston, the son of Fred and Bertha (Webster) Wills. Walter was a graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

On July 15, 1954, he married his wife of 56 years, Marie Davis. She passed away Feb. 22, 2011. Walter worked as a machine tender for IP at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, he retired in 1993. He was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club and always enjoyed the yearly outings. Walter’s greatest joy was to work. He loved working at IP and always had a second job he was working at too.

After he retired, he worked various jobs around town to keep himself busy. In his younger years, he enjoyed going fishing up to Rainbow Lake and other places with some of his friends. He was a great joke and story teller; he would always have you hanging waiting for the punch line. He was a remarkable man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie E. Seelow of Jay; his son, Rick D. Wills and his wife, Peggie, of Livermore; three grandchildren, Tami Burhoe, Corey Breton and Ashley Bergman; four great-grandchildren, Bretteney Sanders, Casey Burhoe, Jordyn Breton and Brenna Bergman; his brother, Paul Wills and his wife, Donna, of Clearwater, Fla.; and his sisters, Marilyn DiSotto of Livermore Falls and Cecile Hathaway of Wilton.
