Casino spokesman Scott Smith said the casino will be adding 10 new gaming tables and will need 30 to 40 new dealers to work them. Once candidates are chosen, they’ll attend classes at the casino’s offices in the Oxford Plaza.

The expansion, which includes another 10,000 square feet of gaming floor, will necessitate other new hires as well, Smith said, but the casino doesn’t have an exact figure.

Smith said the casino has been doing well and they’re glad to be adding new hires already. “We could not be more pleased with our start,” he said.

He said the current casino gaming floor will be rearranged somewhat, with expanded dining space in the restaurant and a single pit for all 22 game tables when the 10 new tables are added to the current 12. The expansion will also add “hundreds” more slots, he said.

The outer walls of the expansion are finished, and contractors from Cianbro and Sargent are installing air ducts, fireproofing and plumbing. “The same core group of subcontractors is continuing with the project, so we’ve got some efficiencies there,” Smith said Friday. Because the expansion has been under construction since before the casino opened, construction work at the site has been nonstop.

The expansion will be a continuation of the current gaming floor, with the same lodge look and colors. Smith said the future expansions are still a possibility, including a convention center and hotel planned in previous drawings.

The job fairs will be in the tent next to the side entrance from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, and Saturday, July 14.
