LEWISTON — Beat Rust, a collaborative of local musicians led by Denise Dill and Corbin Lichtinger, will present the first of a new series of concerts at Trinity Church on Friday, July 27.

Featured will be Shanti and Buck Curran, aka the avant folk duo Arborea; and Christopher Paul Shilling, a singer-songwriter from New York.

“We are so grateful to partner with Trinity on this project. It is such an integral piece of downtown and has such a beautiful space and amazing acoustics. It is perfect for unplugged concerts,” Dill said.

Since 2005, the Currans, a Maine-based, wife-and-husband duo, have released four albums, curated two compilations involving various artists and performed throughout the United States, United Kingdom and Europe.

Arborea is currently touring in support of its latest album, “Red Planet,” released in 2011 on Strange Attractors Audio House. The album has made Rolling Stone’s “Best Under-the-Radar Albums of 2011.” The Currans were also ranked “Editors Top Pick” in the December 2011 Issue of Guitar Player Magazine and “Top Vinyl Pick” in the September 2011 issue of Mojo Magazine.

Stelling released his debut album, “Songs of Praise and Scorn,” in February and continues to tour relentlessly across America. Singing his songs with a pure uninhibited delivery, Stelling is known for the intensity and passion of his live performances.

“Every song on his debut album, ‘Songs of Praise and Scorn,’ cooks with both down-home comfort and avant-garde brio, Stelling building earthy folk troubadour stories over a fluster of wild arpeggios,” wrote Village Voice.

The concerts will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, with 20 percent going to support Trinity and its community programs, including the Jubilee Center, Center for Wisdom’s Women and Tree Street Youth. Trinity Church is at 247 Bates St., at Bates and Spruce streets.
