LOVELL — The 15-year-old girl who lost part of a leg in a boating accident Tuesday on Kezar Lake was identified Wednesday as Abby Mueller, of Houston, Texas.

She was being treated at a Boston hospital.

The Maine Warden Service said the girl’s father was driving a speedboat and pulling an inner tube when the boat hit a submerged rock inside an area marked with hazard buoys. Mueller flew over the front of the boat and then was run over, officials said. She was struck by the boat propeller.

One of Mueller’s legs was severed above the ankle, investigators said. The girl’s father, Robert Mueller, 44, also was injured in the crash and has been treated, Doug Rafferty  of the Maine Warden Service said. Lovell Fire Chief Tom McKenzie said Robert Mueller hit his head on the windshield.

The girl was flown via LifeFlight to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

According to a news release, the boat held a 10-year-old boy in the rear of the boat, three teenage girls sitting in the bow, one 13 and two 15-year-olds, and an adult driver, and a 13-year-old boy riding a tube behind the boat. Only the girl and her father were injured, according the release.

Robert Mueller is the father of three children who were involved. The other two are family cousins from Woodstock, Conn. They were staying at a family camp on the lake.

According to The Maine Warden Service, the boat was then driven to a dock at Quisisana Resort on Pleasant Point Road in Middle Bay, taking on water as a damaged drive shaft guide bracket allowed water to enter the hull.

Officials do not believe alcohol was involved.

Game Warden Sgt. Dave Chabot and Wardens Neal Wykes and Kris Barboza investigated the crash. The Kezar Lake Marina, Stoneham Rescue, Fryeburg Rescue, Lovell Fire & Rescue, and LifeFlight assisted.
