LEWISTON — Richard Summermatter, MD, FACOG has joined the obstetricians, midwives, gynecologists and a urogynecologist at St. Mary’s Women’s Health Associates, 330 Sabattus St., Lewiston. He brings decades of experience to the practice. Most recently he was employed at Western Maine OB/GYN.

Dr. Summermatter earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Ala. He completed his internship and residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine.

While in private practice in Buffalo, N.Y., Dr. Summermatter became the first provider in the city to perform many types of laparoscopic procedures. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a member of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopics, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Medical Society of the State of Maine.
