TOGUS — Maynard C. Veinotte, 75, a resident of Jay, died Wednesday, July 11, at Togus Veterans Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
He was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Livermore Falls, the son of Ralph R. and Dorothy S. (McEwen) Veinotte. Maynard was a 1955 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 13, 1956 to Nov. 12, 1958. On Dec. 10, 1960, in Livermore Falls, he married his wife of 51 years, Louise E. Storer of Livermore Falls.
Maynard worked as an instrumentation technician in the power plant for IP at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, retiring in 2000. Prior to his retirement, Maynard was also an instructor in instrumentation at the mill. He served as a selectman for the town of Jay and also served on the Planning Board.
He attended the Nazarene Church in Livermore Falls and was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club. Maynard was an antique car enthusiast and owned two 1955 Crown Victorias, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird and a 1933 Ford Sedan. Maynard’s special humor and wit were an inspiration to all his family, friends and care providers.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Veinotte of Jay; his son, Rick Veinotte and his wife, Tammie, of Canaan; his daughter, Pam Wildes and companion, Ray Legassie, of South Portland; and three grandchildren, Whitney Wildes and Courtney and Garrett Veinotte.
