POLAND — A local man died and his passenger was critically injured Thursday after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car.

Kevin A. Lemm, 45, was driving north on Plains Road on a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday. A 1996 Oldsmobile driven by Glenn Stoodley, 21, who lives locally, was southbound, but traveled in the northbound lane when the two vehicles collided in the area of 210 Plains Road, according to a Friday news release by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.

Lemm was taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he died from his injuries, authorities said.

Lemm’s wife, Elisha, 47, was a passenger on the motorcycle. She remained in critical condition Friday evening at Central Maine Medical Center.

Stoodley and a passenger, Callie Ollis, 28, were uninjured.

The Plains Road was closed for roughly four hours after the crash while the accident scene was processed and cleared.

The accident remains under investigation by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department with Deputy Timothy Gamache as prime investigator. Accident reconstruction is being handled by Maine State Police. Assistance at the crash scene was provided by Poland Fire and Rescue Department and Maine State Police.
