AUBURN — It took Riverview eight innings and a three-run rally in the extra frame, but the Dentalmen dealt previously unbeaten Gipper’s its first loss of the season Thursday night with a thrilling 5-4 verdict in Auburn Rec softball.
Riverview got outstanding defensive efforts from leftfielder Jesse St. Laurent and second baseman Gary Smith. Smith had a timely base hit to tie the game, and he also scored the winning run on Mike Dyer’s two-out walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Ray Bolduc, recently picked up on waivers, continued to provide a spark to his new team. Riverview’s veteran hurler Del Cooper pitched a gem to improve Riverview’s record to 8-2. Riverview will now face J-Mac’s Concrete on Thursday at Lakeview Field at 6 p.m.
