AUBURN — Richard Roy, executive vice president and chief banking officer at Mechanics Savings Bank, was recently awarded the Certified Financial Marketing Professional) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association, in Washington, D.C.

To prepare for the exam, Roy attended a two-year marketing program held at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. The CFMP exam covers many areas including financial principles, laws and regulations, market research, characteristics of marketing plans and marketing components. The CFMP designation is awarded to individuals who pass the exam, possess certain levels of experience and education in the financial marketing profession, and agree to abide by a code of ethics.

Roy has been with Mechanics Savings Bank for four years and is responsible for commercial, retail and private banking, as well as branch administration and marketing. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University; a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine; and American Bankers Association marketing certification from Southern Methodist University.

He is actively involved in the community and is chairman of the Central Maine Medical Center Board of Trustees and the CMMC Finance Committee. He serves on the governing boards of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, Central Maine Healthcare and Central Maine Community College.
