FARMINGTON — The RSD 9 board welcomed two new members to represent their towns during the next school year.

Nancy Crosby will represent Weld, replacing Paul Druan, who resigned soon after the board completed budget negotiations. Richard Hargreaves will represent New Vineyard, replacing Keith Webber, who chose not to run for another term.

Superintendent Michael Cormier announced at the Tuesday night meeting that three new teachers will join the district. Amanda Walz will serve as a district librarian; at Mt. Blue High School, Louella Grindle will teach math and John Schoen will teach alternative education. Cormier also listed the resignations of Christine Poulson, Lisl Fuson, Heather Ellis and Nicole Martin.

Board members also divided committee assignments for the 2012-13 school year. Committees include Finance, Budget, Contract Resolution, Goals, Education Advisory, Maine School Boards Delegate, Adult Education, Affirmative Action, Vocational, Legislative, Administrative Evaluation, Policy, Wilton Early Childhood Center, Wellness, All Sports Boosters, Curriculum Coordinating, District Technology, School Health, and Dropout Prevention.

Cormier announced that Ronald Hoffman, the Rumford defense lawyer charged with telephoning bomb threats to Cushing and the Academy Hill elementary schools in Wilton, would seek a plea bargain rather than a jury trial at his Thursday morning hearing in Franklin County Superior Court. Hoffman was charged with two counts of misdemeanor terrorizing in connection with bomb threats made on March 29. Cushing School houses prekindergarten through grade two; Academy Hill, grades three through five. Staff and 363 students were transported to Farmington schools.

“Several people will probably speak, including a student and parents, and school representatives,” he said.
