AUGUSTA — Helen L. Roach, 82, died Thursday, July 19, at Kindred HealthCare Center, Augusta, after a long illness.

She was born in Bangor, May 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Walter and Jennie (Richards) Wright. Mrs. Roach graduated from Kents Hill School in 1946.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 22 years by the State of Maine Motor Vehicles Division of the Secretary of State’s Office.

Mrs. Roach was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, past president of the Augusta Emblem Club, where she was a member since 1962, American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 887 Auxiliary.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Allan Bernard “Barney” Roach of Augusta; one son, David B. Roach and his wife, Karina, of Chelsea; a daughter, Maryalyne McKinley Roach of Bangor; two grandchildren, David and Sandra Buzzell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
