LEWISTON — Corbin Hyde crushed a home run to right field and Matt Bowen registered a pair of hits and recorded the win as Pastime Club of Lewiston closed out the American Legion Zone III season with an 11-3 victory over Bessey Motors on Saturday.

Five different pitchers went at least an inning for Pastime (16-2), which plated three runs in the first and second innings, one in each the fourth and seventh, and three more in the eighth to put the game away.
Sam Vankirk led Bessey (10-8) with a double, and catcher Jordan Croteau pounded out a pair of hits in the loss.

Brunswick 15, Mechanic Falls 3

POLAND —   Ryan Salerno went the distance, striking out 11 batters and knocking out two hits, as Brunswick battered Mechanic Falls, 15-3, in a nine-inning American Legion baseball game at Poland High School on Saturday.

Brunswick, which had 17 hits for the day took Mechanic Falls to task when it erupted with nine runs in the top of the ninth.

During Brunswick’s nine-inning onslaught, Mechanic Falls used three different pitchers to get out of the inning.

Trent Anderson drove in two runs on two hits for Brunswick, and Mechanic Falls’ Zack Johnson, Connor King and C.J. Martin each had doubles.
