NORWAY — Caroline Mary (Gammon) Scott, 90, of Buckfield, died Sunday, July 22, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born Jan. 13, 1922, to Almer and Gertrude (Dunn) Gammon, the sixth of seven children. She first attended school at the age of three when she tagged along after her older brothers and sisters as they walked the half mile down the road to the one-room schoolhouse in East Buckfield.

Caroline was an accomplished baker, her molasses cookies and homemade pies were the stuff of legends. She was also an excellent gardener, who preserved many quarts of vegetables and fruit for the family table. She enjoyed sewing and always made “first day of school” dresses for her daughters when they were young.

Caroline also worked outside the home for many years as a clerk at Tilton’s Market in Buckfield.
