As part of grand re-opening celebrations at its Lewiston and Auburn stores, Shaw’s Supermarkets recently gave a trailer to Good Shepherd Food-Bank and made two $2,000 donations to St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Auburn and the Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston. Food bank officials said the donation of the trailer, which was displayed at the Auburn store, will allow the organization to pick up and deliver millions of pounds of food each year to Mainers. Last year, Shaw’s donated more than half-a-million pounds of food in Maine that otherwise would have been wasted. The grand re-openings celebrated major remodellings at both stores with redesigns that offer a greater variety of produce, including expanded organic and local offerings, as well as larger bakeries, wider deli offerings and sushi made fresh daily.
